Junot Diaz explicit fictional novel "The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" contributes to the whole meaning of the novel by emphasizing the sequence of events that lead to the demise of Oscar Wao. By the author describing all the failed attempts of relations with the women in Oscar's life it portrayed the true curse that was upon him. Which when it came to his family, the extreme obstacles they faced when it came to love. Diaz began the novel by emphasizing the deep feelings that Oscar had towards Ana when they first began to become close. Oscar was more than in love with this girl, "He was totally and irrevocably in love with Ana...nothing compared to the amor he was carrying in his heart for Ana".(Diaz.16) Diaz showed the readers how Oscar first encounter with a rejection affected Oscar and how passionate he was when he "loved" someone, sometimes even destructive. Wao took it open himself to feel self-pity and to isolate himself from the world. Through the novel the pattern of love and rejection continued for Oscar when he meet the beautiful Jenni Munoz. However,Oscar became even more destructive, "Called her a whore and attacked her walls, tearing down her posters and throwing her books everywhere." (Diaz. 52) . By the authoring continuing to show the readers how Oscar's reactions to his failed love connections we see that the protagonist is slowly losing himself while trying to find love.By this time the readers understand why Oscar feels like life is not worth living anymore and attempts to end it. By the end of the novel Oscar does finally reach "The One" he has been desperately searching for ,Ybón Pimentel , but sadly it lead to his death as well. His killers took him to a field and his last words he told them, "the way he loved her ... He told them that it was only because of her love that he'd been able to do the thing that he had done." (Diaz.120). Oscar failure to control his love curse lead to his demise and also his inadequate way of handling rejection from women in his life. Junot Diaz way of constructing how Oscar slowly deteriorated from each relationship showed how it lead to his death. The whole family came from a background of wild and insane love stories which they all manage to conquer over. The brief and wondrous life. Oscar Wao life was short- lived but he defeated his curse and found love.
